Well? Are they? As you design your mobile-friendly site, remember to make your buttons finger-clickable. The touch screen on your tablet or phone is designed primarily for the pad of your index finger or your thumb.

The Touch Lab at MIT has determined that the average width of the index finger is between 45 and 57 pixels, and the average adult thumb width is about 72 pixels. So these are your targets:

Smaller buttons are harder to hit accurately and that’s a time waster. The user may have to shift to touch the button with tip of the finger – and if the touch is inaccurate, go back and make a correction. This is a familiar situation for folks entering passwords on mobile phones where the targets are smaller and closer together.
